Stocking Recommendations

The most common approaches to stocking new fishing ponds are:

  1. Traditional Fishing Ponds (suited for ponds bigger than 1 acre)
  2. Black Bass Ponds  (suited for ponds bigger than 1 acre)
  3. Hybrid Bream Ponds (suited for ponds 1/4 to 2 acres)
  4. Channel Catfish Ponds (suited for ponds 1/4 to 5 acres)
  5. Black Crappie Ponds (suited for ponds bigger than 5 acres)

Each stocking approach requires a different management approach to maintain quality fishing.

  1. Black Bass Management for black bass ponds and traditional fishing ponds.
  2. Relative Weight Management for black bass ponds and traditional fishing ponds.
  3. Hybrid Bream Management
  4. Channel Catfish Management
  5. Black Crappie Management
